Aurora Downtown Welcomes New Board Members; At its annual meeting and breakfast on Thursday, December 16, 2004, Aurora Downtown, the organization of Special Service Area #One property owners, welcomed two new at-large board members: Carol Rehtmeyer and Dan Hites. Rehtmeyer is the owner of the Aurora Business Center at 31 W. Downer Place. Hites is the owner of the Metropolitan Business College complex of buildings at 8-20 W. Downer Place. Additionally, Pam Dandridge (Ciara's Place, 31 N. Broadway); Bob Reuland (Budget Finance, 44 E. Galena Boulevard); and Vicki Precht (Just Because, 5 E. Downer Place), were re-elected to the board of directors. All five individuals' terms on the Aurora Downtown Board of Directors will expire in December, 2007. At the Aurora Downtown annual meeting, Mayor David L. Stover presented an "Award for Excellence in Property Improvement" to seven property and business owners. Buildings that have undergone significant restoration are eligible for this recognition by the City of Aurora, and receive a commemorative plaque in appreciation of the significant investment that their owners have made downtown. Building selection is done by the 11-member FoxWalk Overlay District Design Review Committee, chaired by Donald P. Truax. This year's award-winners include:
