Guitar Virtuoso Goes Backthird
AURORA – TD Clark could be called a local Guitar God. For more than two decades as a professional musician, the Aurora resident has played “guitar hero” to more than a few audiences. He has authored of a popular series of guitar lesson books, composed music played at Chicago Blackhawks games, and shared the stage with everyone from American Idol stars to – most recently – Yngwie Malmsteen on the 2014 Guitar Gods Tour.
On Saturday, August 9, Clark his letting his hometown inside his head.
Clark is offering a two-and-a-half-hour master class from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Backthird Audio, a recording studio in downtown Aurora. The event, titled “The Pro Guitarist’s Toolkit,” will offer area students and guitar lovers the chance to hear Clark speak, perform and teach up close and personal.
Clark’s master class will blend music theory with music-business practice. He’ll performing a handful of his most successful songs. After each piece, he’ll share the methods and guitar techniques that set it apart. Then, he’ll share the business insights it took to make each piece commercially successful. Business topics to be covered will likely include music licensing, musician endorsement deals and tour sponsorship for artists.
The event will end with Clark offering some personal feedback to musicians who submitted performance samples in advance. For the option to submit, attendees should register atwww.backthird.com/TDClark before July 31. Pre-registration discounts and student discounts end July 31 as well.
