COOL HEAT
Tom Curry has a long-standing relationship with Aurora, having been a resident of the area for most of his life. That relationship is made more intimate by the many walks he takes, often finding inspiration for his artwork along the way.
"Cool Heat" is a result of one of those Aurora tours. The fire escape first caught his eye in winter. Tom was attracted to the play of shapes and shadows cast by the structure. It was the summer light and the feeling of "heat" it created that prompted the artist to put brush to canvas.
The strong contrast of the black fire escape against the deep cool red of the building serve to give this painting its feeling of "Cool Heat".
