Coming Soon: New Downtown Library

This April, Aurora’s City Council approved funding for the new downtown library. The new Main Library will occupy the southwest corner of River and Benton Streets. The new library will be 92,000 square feet, which is twice the size of the current library at 1 E. Benton St.

The City Council vote allows the city to seek bonds in order to build the $28 million new library. Library director Eva Luckinbill said they should be able to break ground at the new site in October or November for a 2014 opening.
