The annual meeting of Aurora Downtown will be held at 8 a.m. on Thursday, December 4 on the 5th floor of Aurora’s City Hall, 44 E. Downer Pl. All board members are encouraged to attend as Aurora Downtown will NOT have another board meeting this month. The next regular board meeting will be Thursday, January 15, 2015. Join us as we announce new board members and wrap up the year. Other World Comic Con...

This weekend, comic heroes will descend on downtown Aurora. You won’t want to miss the comic book art and other surprises that Other World Con has in store for comic book fans on Saturday and Sunday at North Island Center, 8 E. Galena Blvd. Other World Con brought to you by Aurora Downtown, Rotten Apple Studios, Aurora Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, City of Aurora, and Allegra Printing, features the best in the business and many local talents. Organizer Gaiter Tee says the grassroots event will be a lot of fun, and it’ll bring a lot of excitement to downtown Aurora. The two-day event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children under six. A weekend pass can be purchased for $15. Winter Lights Window Contest!...

Decorate your downtown window this winter! Downtown business owners are invited to participate in the 3rd annual Winter Lights Holiday Decorating Contest, part of a continuing tradition in downtown Aurora. Decorate your business and take advantage of the increased foot traffic this community event will bring to downtown by extending your hours until 9 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 21. A traveling trophy will be awarded for the best decorated business. In addition, the winner will receive coverage in a press release, on Facebook and on the City of Aurora’s website, as well as drawing people to your business to see your window. To be eligible for the contest, an application MUST be returned by Nov. 14. Window decorations MUST be up by Nov. 17. Judging will take place the week of Nov. 17 with the winner to be announced at the Holiday Tree Lighting and Winter Lights event on Friday, Nov. 21 from 5 to 9 p.m. For an application, please visit the Special Events office at 5 E. Check, Please! Chef Amaury at 33 West...

  Check, Please! is coming to downtown Aurora. The popular PBS dining critique show is visiting Chef Amaury at 33 West on Thursday, Sept. 11. “I’m really excited,” said proprietor Amaury Rosado, of Aurora. Rosado is a fan of the show, and he even threw his hat into the pool of prospective hosts a while back. Rosado said the show intended on visiting his old location, but his plans to move halted the visit. Now in downtown, Rosado has new fans and admirers. He is excited to show off his new French-and Latin- infused and locally-inspired menu. Look for halibut, NY strip steak, a mango dish, and bruschetta to be offered during the show. Rosado said he appreciates the support of customer Emily Opalski, who recommended Chef Amaury on Check, Please! “Check, Please” will air the episode on Friday, October 31st at 8pm.
